Tomas Van Houtryve : a photojournalist at CSW

Tomas Van Houtryve, photojournalist, will present his work entitled Lines ans Lineage at our school on September 18 at 9:00 am. The project is a photographic journey into the history of the West, a history lesson in pictures and one that is not taught in schools or published in American textbooks. His work touches on ethnicity, race, migration, and identity of ancestors of the people who settled in the America of the early to mid 1800s'. There will be the opportunity for students to discuss questions that may arise as a result of the presentation, as well as questions regarding his art and photographic technique.

Students who are interested in participating in the photography contest entitled Equalities / Inequalities will be invited to attend a special focus session with the photographer during the subsequent activity period. The contest is a part of the annual French exchange, however interested students do not have to participate in the exchange to be eligible to submit photos to the contest.
